Lesson 8 – 3D reconstruction and point cloud classification

In a GIS context, raster data is comprised of an array of geographically referenced pixels, each of which contains measured or quantified values. The most common type of raster data contains RGB or color values. While raster data is most often employed as a base map for vector mapping projects, it can also be used in a variety of analytic procedures. While Global Mapper provides a wide array of advanced raster analysis tools, in this introductory course you will have an opportunity to learn some of the basics of managing raster data including adjusting the visual characteristics and cropping.
